About The Event
About the Workshop:
In this workshop Julie Corallo and Juanda Marshall will explain the benefits of achieving National Board Certification and how using the Kodály Approach helped them on their journey. Perhaps you are wondering about the process of achieving National Board Certification. You may be looking for ways to increase your salary or teaching opportunities in the future. Juanda and Julie were certified in December of 2018 and will describe how this voluntary advanced credential can be an advantage to you and your students while taking your instruction to a higher level.
Ms. Corallo and Ms. Marshall will lead participants through songs, games, and engaging activities that will help attendees to understand the requirements for the four components of National Board Certification and the pathways one can take to effectively plan their candidacy. We invite you to join us as we investigate this worthwhile challenge!
Ms. Julie Corallo, NBCT, has taught music to children ages 4-74 since 1995. Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Master of Education at UCLA, and later a MA in Educational Administration at CSUDH, she has been a music administrator with Los Angeles Unified, is a director with the South Bay Children’s Choir, and is a Kodály-certified elementary music teacher for Los Angeles Unified. She has been a presenter for numerous music organizations, including Little Kids Rock, California Choral Directors Association, and the Kodály Association of Southern California.
Juanda Marshall, NBCT, holds a BM degree from the University of Portland in Music Education and an MA degree in Elementary Education from the University of San Francisco. Ms. Marshall is currently a vocal general music teacher, K-5, with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Her mission is to help students to know the joy of making music and to help them understand how music can be a powerful and exciting part of their lives. Juanda has designed and presented sessions for many organizations including KASC, OAKE, CMEA, the LA Philharmonic and LAUSD.
